A bit about me!

I am a musician and singer/songwriter.  I have lived in the New Forest for over 25 years. I am married with 3 grown up children and a crazy dog called Bailey.

My musical journey began at the age of 6 when I first learnt to play an instrument, sing and perform.

When I was 10 years old I  pestered my Mum to buy me an old guitar at a jumble sale, which she did and within no time I had learnt a few chords and was driving everyone nuts!

I have been playing guitar for over 40 years now but  still class myself as a learner!

I am passionate about developing my own skills as a player and sharing what I know with others.

Like many guitarists,  I taught myself to play as lessons were a luxury we couldn't afford. As a result

I definitely made some big mistakes along the way and often got frustrated with my progress.

I sometimes plateaued in my learning as work and family commitments all had to be balanced.

I did however fall in love with the guitar  as a instrument - and enjoyed learning new skills.

Since then I have acquired quite a few guitars and learned a lot from other people on how to become a better player, musician and appreciate a wide range of musical styles.

Above all, I have discovered that the thing I enjoy most is teaching other people how to play.

This is where my passion lies. I enjoy playing the guitar but love teaching it to others.

I first started giving lessons in 2001 when a friend wanted to learn - and it has grown from there.

I usually teach at home where I have a home studio set up. I use technology and Social Media  to help with lessons and assist with keeping students on track between lessons. I also provide a variety of handouts to support areas of learning.

Because of my experience I feel I am perfectly placed to help people pick up the guitar and get going - as well as keeping them motivated and helping them balance learning with real life. I usually focus on songs you know and love as this helps you learn quicker.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your lessons with you and look at how I may be able to support your learning.

Loan guitars are available for lessons but it is strongly advised to have a guitar that you can use for practicing between lessons. Free advice can be given on the style and size of guitar that may be best.
