People find it hard to believe that you can play hundreds of songs with only three chords - but its true!
Of course knowing more than three chords will make your playing song more interesting and increase the possibilities but three chords is all you need to start.
I usually introduce learning the guitar by comparing it to learning a new language. You start by learning how letters make up simple words and then you put those simple words together in a particular way to make a sentence - and hey presto - you are communicating.
Guitar is exactly the same. Learn some basic chords - G,C,& D for example - and put them together is a certain order and you are communicating.
Only this week I was working with two students using the same chords to learn two completely different songs. One was learning 'Baby Shark' (she's 7 years old) and the other was learning Brown Eyed Girl (can't say how old they are!).
There are many people who have made a good musical career out of using a few basic chords in their song writing and musical performances. In fact many students comment how surprised they are when they discover how many songs they can play with just a few chords.
Why not give it a try and see - you will be amazed.
